Some of the most fascinating contraptions in the world are used in railway maintenance operations. Usually having the appearance of something from Star Wars, they function much like a mobile factory. They perform a variety of a machining, quarry or fastening operations while moving down the roadbed. Used in conjunction with the more conventional construction machines such as end loaders, backhoes and welders they will rebuild a section in a matter of hours.
