RIVER SUBDIVISION FOOTNOTES

1 RULE MODIFICATIONS

1.1 CLEARANCES

SOUTH YARD - Southward trains do not require clearance but must have permission from Train Dispatcher before departing south yard.

FLAT ROCK- All -Northward Trains must obtain a clearance.

1.2 TRAIN REGISTER MODIFICATIONS

FORD YARD -*Standard Clock and Bulletins only.

FLAT ROCK -*Register station for trains originating and terminating.

2 GENERAL FOOTNOTES

2.1 SHORT CUT - Single track between south side of Short Cut mileage 1.7, and north end South Yard, mileage 2.0, movement by Manual Block.

This portion of Main Track, operated as Manual Block and indicated by Manual Block signs, is under the jurisdiction of the Block Operator at Short Cut. Verbal permission from the Block Operator must be obtained for Northward Trains or Locomotives to use this track.

All northward movements from South Yard requiring the use of this Manual Block territory must obtain permission at either Ford Yard, or at the north end of yard before leaving South Yard.

Southward movements may proceed on fixed signal indication at Short Cut in lieu of verbal permission.

When any movement clears the main track in this territory at South Yard or at any intermediate point, the Conductor or a crew member who has been properly instructed by the Conductor must call block operator at Short Cut or Supervisor Ford Yard and report clear and must not re-enter or foul main track until after receiving further block permission to do so.

No train or locomotive will be permitted to enter this territory while it is occupied by another train or locomotive unless authorized by the Superintendent.

2.2 WYANDOTTE - At Wyandotte, northward trains destined to Conrail at Mill will proceed when indicator, located at mileage 7.5 displays a lunar white indication. If the lunar white indication is not displayed, trains with more than 25 cars will stop clear of indicator, then call Ford Yard for instructions and be governed accordingly. Indicator does not convey condition of track between indicator and advance signal for Mill. Its only purpose is to permit trains being operated via the Conrail at Mill to proceed without stopping or stop and call for Constructions.

Crews must ascertain location of trains before fouling main track in the Wyandotte-Trenton territory and use extreme caution around reverse curves at Wyandotte.

Diversey Corporation mileage 6.5 Wyandotte crews are prohibited from riding on side of cars while switching at this location.

2.3 All train and yard movement operating on the main track between FN mileage 11.1 and Mill mileage 5.0 and South Yard mileage 3.2 must first receive permission from the Train Dispatcher at Flat Rock, and be governed by his instructions before entering this territory.

Authorization from the Train Dispatcher may be obtained through CR Bridge, Ford Yard, FN or Hump Tower via radio.

2.4 GTOR Rules 281, 285, and 292 at the following interlocking signal location, the absence of a signal light in the bottom portion of a double head signal mast will not be considered as an imperfectly displayed signal as outlined in GTOR Rule 27.

Those interlocking signals are not equipped with number plates and the signal red light aspect will indicate GTOR Rule 292. The only time both lights on these double headed signals mast will be [it is to display a restricting indication GTOR Rule 290.

Mileage 11.0 TRENTON- Southward signal.

2.5 Mileage 13.2 and mileage 13.3 Fort Street, Trenton, trains or locomotives, either direction, not making a through movement over the crossing will cause the highway protection device to be automatically interrupted.

After protection has been interrupted, trains or locomotives approaching the crossing will restart the protection. After automatic protection has been restarted it must be allowed to operate 20 seconds before proceeding over the crossing.

2.6 JOINT MAIN TRACK

Short Cut to South Yard joint with GLS. GT Timetable, operating rules and special instructions apply.

Mill to Windsor, Ontario, joint with CR and CP. CR Timetable and rules govern between Mill and East end CR Electric Yard Windsor. CP special instructions apply between East end of CR Electric Yard and CP Yard Windsor.

Mill to Vinewood joint with CR. CR Timetable and rules govern between Mill and CR Vinewood.

3 INTERLOCKINGS

3.1 Lift Bridge.

Mileage 1.7.... Mechanical. Bridge Tender on duty.

3.2 Junction CR.

Mileage 4.8.... Controlled. Contact Operator at CR Bridge for instructions.

3.3 Railway crossing at grade.

CR.... Mileage 6.3 .... Semi-Automatic. Be governed by special instruction 6.1.

3A Railway crossing at grade.

CR.... Mileage 8.1 .... Semi-Automatic. Be governed by special instruction 6.1.

3.5 Railway crossing at grade.

CR.... Mileage 9.4.... Semi-Automatic. Be governed by special instruction 6.1.

3.6 Railway crossing at grade.

CR.... Mileage 11.1 .... Mechanical.

GTOR Rule 104 B applies at Dual Control Switches on connection between River Subdivision and Shore Line Subdivision.

4 EQUIPMENT RESTRICTIONS

4.1 Cars exceeding 315,000 lbs. gross must be covered by handling instructions.

4.2 All 6 axle locomotives prohibited from the following tracks: Mileage 10.9 McLouth Steel Plant all tracks Mileage 8.1 MA-1 Track Mileage 6.4 MA-2 Track Mileage 2.6 Great Lakes Steel 80 inch Mill Track

4.3 Special Instruction 7.25, Cars Containing Flammable Gas, applies between Mileage 1.7 and Mileage 17.2.

5 ELECTRICALLY LOCKED HAND-OPERATED SWITCHES

5.1 Mileage 11.0 McLouth Hi-Line. Be governed by GTOR Rule 104 C. Contact Operator FN before removing padlock from keeper.

6 PUBLIC CROSSING AT GRADE

6.1 All train and locomotive movements over the following street crossings must be preceded by a member of the crew who will act as Flagman until crossing is occupied by Train movement.
