GRAND RAPIDS SUBDIVISION FOOTNOTES

1 RULE MODIFICATIONS

1.1 CLEARANCES

DURAND - All Westward trains require clearance at Durand.

SAN - Eastward trains originating at Owosso require clearance at Owosso. OWOSSO JCT. - Trains moving from Greenville Subdivision to Grand Rapids Subdivision will not require clearance, but must obtain permission to enter Grand Rapids Subdivision from Train Dispatcher Pontiac Yard.

FULLER - All trains must obtain clearance.

PENN JCT. - Trains from Coopersville Subdivision will not require clearance.

MUSKEGON - Eastward trains will not require clearance.

1.2 TRAIN REGISTER MODIFICATIONS

DURAND -*Register station for trains originating and terminating. TSBY trains will not register unless required by Train Order to do so.

GRAND RAPIDS -*Standard Clock and Bulletins only.

FULLER -*Standard Clock only.

1.3 SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS APPLY 9.3 - between Durand and mileage 67.9.

2 GENERAL FOOTNOTES

2.1 DURAND - Within yard limits Durand, when emergency conditions exist or it is known that public crossing at grade will be blocked in excess of 5 minutes, train and locomotive crews will immediately contact Yardmaster or Operator Durand.

When cars are placed in the North Track, West of the Top End Shanty, there will be sufficient hand brakes set on such cars to keep them from moving and no less than:

1	brake for 1 car
2	brakes for 2 to 12 cars
3	brakes for 18 cars
1	brake for each additional 6 cars

The south side of the north track is designated as the working side.

2.2 Mileage 75.5 at Corunna Elevator Company tracks. Mileage 78.8 Valley Lumber Company, on industrial lead. Crew members are prohibited from riding on side of cars when switching account close clearance.

2.3 OWOSSO JCT. - Junction of Grand Rapids and Greenville Subdivision. Normal position of switch is for Grand Rapids Subdivision.

2.4 IONIA - Cars of equipment must not be left standing on siding within 200 feet, (East and West) of Jefferson Street, mileage 123.6.

Cars or equipment must not be left standing within 300 feet either side of Hudson St. on former CO trackage.

Cars 85 feet or longer must not be moved through the first turnout north of Dexter St. on former GO trackage.

Crossties have been installed at end of GTW operation on former CO trackage 0.5 mile south and 0.7 mile north of Main Track. Maximum speed on former CO trackage is 15 miles per hour.

2.5 Mileage 132.8 - Bridge over Saranac Creek. Employees are prohibited from crossing bridge on foot.

2.6 Mileage 148.0 - When switching Amway Corporation's Stub Track serving tanks on south end, walkway is on east side of tracks and switching must be from this side. Switch heaters and electrical junction boxes are located near all switches.

2.7 PENN JCT. - Junction of Grand Rapids and Coopersville Subdivisions. Normal position of switch is for Grand Rapids Subdivision.

2.8 MUSKEGON - All trains leave inbound waybills and get outbound waybills and instructions from waybill box located on pole between No. 4 and No.5 yard switches just west of Henry Street.

2.9 JOINT MAIN TRACK

DURAND - Trackage between Durand Depot and mileage 76.5 joint with TSBY. GTW rules and timetable govern.

TSBY Trains contact Yardmaster or Operator Durand on GTW Channel 1 for instructions on Yard Track to use through Durand Yard.

2.10 OWOSSO - FORMER PC TRACKAGE - extending 2.6 miles south and 0.8 miles north of Main Track, mileage 79.2. All trains moving on this trackage will be governed by GTOR Rule 105. TSBY trains operating north of this trackage must obtain permission to enter and report clear to Train Dispatcher Pontiac Yard. The permission to enter or report clear to Train Dispatcher Pontiac Yard may be obtained from the Operator Durand.

At Street and Highway crossings be governed by Special Instruction 9.2. Speed on Anderson Fertilizer Track must not exceed 5 miles per hour.

OWOSSO - FORMER AA TRACKAGE

Trains and locomotives do not exceed 10 miles per hour on former AA track. age between SAN mileage 76.5, Grand Rapids Subdivision and Owosso Jct. mileage 0.1, Greenville Subdivision. All trains moving on this trackage will be governed by GTOR Rule 105.

Speed on Globe Union Track must not exceed 5 miles per hour. All trains and locomotives contact Train Dispatcher Pontiac Yard before occupying Grand Rapids Subdivision at SAN.

2.11 GRAND RAPIDS - Normal position of all switches on passing track mileage 157.5 west of Coldbrook Street are to be lined and locked for sand track. Handrails have been removed from the North end of bridge Mileage 158.3

2.12 FULLER - Main Track from Wye Track switch at Broadway St. to first switch east, joint with C&O. GTW timetable and rules govern.

C&O Main Track from Wye Track switch at Ann Street to Long Siding, joint with GTW. Crews delivering cars to C&O at Fuller must obtain permission from Operator at Fuller before fouling the C&O Main Track, and then will be governed by the second paragraph of revised C&O Rule 93-A, reading as follows:

Within Yard Limits, trains and engines (except First Class Trains) must move prepared to stop within one- half the range of vision, not exceeding 15 MPH unless the Main Track is known to be clear by Block Signal indication. Movements against the Current of Traffic on the Main Tracks must be made by Train Order or authority designated by special instructions.

2.13 Security locks now replace GTW switch locks on Main Track switches between mileage 68.9 and mileage 178.6.

5 EQUIPMENT RESTRICTIONS

5.1 Cars exceeding 263,000 lbs. gross must be covered by handling instructions.

5.2 Jordan Spreaders must not be handled on Main Track passing station platform at Grand Rapids.

5.3 MUSKEGON - Trailer or automobile carrying flat cars 85 feet or more in length are restricted from curve at Muskegon BBC track former PC Yard.

6 PUBLIC CROSSING AT GRADE

6.1 OWOSSO (Former AA Trackage) - Corunna Ave. - Starting circuit for westward trains are 440 feet east of Corunna Avenue.

When a westward train has to double head end over and will then occupy approach circuit, train will back off approach circuit as soon as double is completed. If an eastward train has east lead foul preventing back up move, westward train will not double over until eastward train has departed.

In the event approach circuit is occupied and cannot be cleared promptly, member of crew must go to crossing and direct traffic.

FORMER AA TRACKAGE - Shiawassee Street - Automatic flasher light signals at South Shiawassee Street, (Route M-52), operated for movements on two tracks over this crossing. Starting circuits for movements on main track are located approximately 800 ft. from crossing in each direction. Circuits cut out and operation of signal lights stop after movement passes over and clears the crossing.

FORMER AA TRACKAGE - Track to Woodard Plant - Circuit is arranged so when main track switch is set for movement into Woodard Plant, track signals will cut out and stop operating. Signals will start again operating when movement reach insulated joint on track to Woodard Plant 25 ft. east of pavement. This applies whether or not cars are left on main track east of switch.

For movements on tracks other than main, due to shortness of approach circuits (25 ft.) full stop must be made after reaching starting circuits and before movement actually enters the crossing.

FORMER AA TRACKAGE - Chipman Street - All trains and locomotives making west movement from Grand Rapids Sub. to Greenville Sub. must stop with locomotive or cars on track circuit, which extends 150 feet east of crossing, and allow automatic protection to function for 20 seconds, before movement is made over crossing.

FORMER PC TRACKAGE - All movements over Steward Street second crossing (0.4 miles) south of Grand Rapids Main Track must STOP and crossing protected by a member of the crew, warning traffic in advance of the movement.

6.2 ST. JOHNS - All movements on Elevator Track at Clinton St., mileage 98.2 and Meade St., mileage 98.0 must STOP and crossing protected by a member of the crew with lighted fusees.

6.3 ADA - All movements over private road crossing located 750 feet North of Highway 21 on Amway property, must stop and crossing protected by a member of the crew, warning traffic in advance of the movement.

Mileage 148.1, Ada - The gate to Amway Corporation, located just north of M-21 highway, on Amway Lead must be opened before cars are moved onto the lead.

6.4 MUSKEGON HTS. - HACKLEY AVE. - Trains and locomotives must stop and no movements may be made over the crossing until motor-vehicular traffic has been flagged to a stop and crossing is protected by a member of the crew.

6.5 MUSKEGON - All movements over Laketon Avenue crossing on the former MRN trackage over Beidler Street on the Shaw Walker Lead, and over Broadmoor Street and Harvey Street on Laketon Ave. Spur must STOP and crossing protected by a member of the crew, warning traffic in advance of the movement.

6.6 Switch Key or Pull Bufton Control Instructions: Special Instruction 9.2 applies.

7.1 Mileage 69.3, Vernon, 6,860 feet in length, switch points face E. Station Number 630.

7.2 Mileage 70.2, Vernon, 1,115 feet in length, switch points face E.&W. Station Number 630.

7.3 Mileage 74.2, Corunna, 5,800 feet in length, switch points face E. Station Number 632.
