1 RULE MODIFICATIONS

1.1 CLEARANCES

BATTLE CREEK YARD - Eastward first class passenger trains from South Bend Subdivision must obtain clearance.

DURAND - Trains moving between Flint and Holly Subdivisions must obtain a clearance.

TORREY - Trains originating will not require a clearance. Conductors of trains originating Torrey must contact Train Dispatcher, Battle Creek, before departure.

TUNNEL YARD - Westward trains originating Tunnel Yard must obtain clearance at Tappan.

PORT HURON - Westward first class passenger trains originating Port Huron must contact Train Dispatcher Battle Creek before departure and must obtain clearance at Tappan.

1.2 TRAIN REGISTER MODIFICATIONS

BATTLE CREEK YARD -*Register station for trains originating and terminating.

LANSING -*Standard Clock and Bulletins only.

DURAND -*Standard Clock and Bulletins only.

TORREY-*Register station for trains originating and terminating.

TUNNEL YARD -*Register station for trains originating and terminating.

PORT HURON -*Standard clock only. Crews of trains originating and terminating will register at Tunnel Yard.

1.3 ABS AND CTC SPECIAL FEATURES

GTOR Rule 104C applies on South Track at mileages 332.2, 333.2, 333.4 and 333.5. Permission must be received from Flint Subdivision Train Dispatcher, before opening operating door of these Electrically-Locked Hand Operated Switches.

Two main tracks between mileage 276.6 and mileage 270.0 are designated South track and North track.

Train and engines on CTC Main Track crossing over to Service Track at mileage 265.5 Flint, must stop at marker post located 125 feet west of Bristol Road, mileage 265.5 before electric locks will release for turnouts.

1.4 SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS APPLY

9.3 - within city limits of Durand between mileage 253.6 and mileage 252.5.

2 GENERAL FOOTNOTES

2.1 CHARLOTTE - Trains or engines must STOP and crossing protected by a member of the crew over Washington Street warning traffic in advance of movement.

2.2 LANSING - The Power House Track, west of Washington Avenue, mileage 220.9, must not be used by Road crews, unless otherwise directed.

Trains must not set out cars on the west end of Milleft Pass unless directed to do so by Yardmaster.

Cars exceeding 65 feet-in-length must not be set out, placed or pulled on the CR Interchange Tracks at Cedar.

Eastward trains leave waybills in the waybill box installed on the third utility pole east of Milleft Highway, Mileage 216.2 on the north side.

Westward trains leave waybills in the waybill box installed on the telephone box on the north side of the tracks just west of Hope or they may be hand delivered to the Yard Office.

2.3 MORRICE - Cars or equipment are not to be left standing or stored from the east switch to a point 300 feet west of Morrice Road mileage 242.2 Westward siding.

2.4 DURAND - To avoid blocking Main Street, mileage 253.5, westward movements receiving a STOP signal indication at the railway crossing at grade, mileage 253.2, must STOP east of Main Street until a signal indication to proeced can be obtained or authority received from the Train Dispatcher, Pontiac Yard.

Within yard limits Durand, when emergency conditions exist or it is known that public crossings at grade will be blocked in excess of 5 minutes, train and engine crews will immediately contact Yardmaster or Operator Durand.

Eastward trains or engine will not contact Train Dispatcher, Pontiac Yard, to obtain interlocking signal, mileage 253.3 until train or engine is ready to proceed. Gates at South Oak Street, mileage 253.0 are now activated when interlocking signal is lined. If delay occurs after receiving interlocking signal, Train Dispatcher, Pontiac Yard, must be immediately notified.

2.5 DURAND - Maximum speed on Hi Wye, Chicago Wye and Kelly Tracks between Holly and Flint Subdivisions is 10 miles per hour.

2.6 TORREY - Employees are prohibited from riding on side of car over Flint River Bridge on No. 19 Lead at Chevrolet Manufacturing. If necessary to protect movement, employee will walk over bridge, then proceed with the movement.

Maximum speed for movements entering and leaving the east or west end of the North or South Yard is 5 miles per hour.

2.7 IMLAY CITY - When shoving cars over Imlay City Bridge mileage 301.4, employees must not ride on side of car. Movement must be stopped, employee walk over bridge, then proceed with the movement.

The Lapeer County Co-Op Elevator will be loading cars on the P.O.N. lead, east of Almont Street, Mileage 301.8.

2.8 PORT HURON - CTC controlled by Train Movement Director, East Summit (Sarnia) in effect between 16th Street (Port Huron) and East Summit (Sarnia).

In the application of GTOR Rule 264, movements into this CTC territory, derails must be manually operated and a member of the crew must attend derail until movement has been completed, and then place derail back in the "on" position.

To avoid blocking the C&O crossover, Yard Conductor will call the Train Movement Director at East Summit phone 78-51, before leaving Ferry Dock Yard, to ascertain if movement can be immediately handled.

3 INTERLOCKINGS

3.1 Railway crossings at grade.

CR.... Mileage 221.4.... Controlled.

Contact Train Dispatcher Battle Creek for required instructions.

Trains and engines must contact Train Dispatcher Battle Creek to release Electrically-Locked Hand Operated Switches located at West end of CR Interchange tracks mileage 221.2 and West end of New Reo track mileage 221.2.

A member of the crew must lock switch in reverse position before signal indication can be given on Dwarf Signals CEIOE and High Mast Signal CE12E located at mileage 221.1. To obtain a signal to leave CR Interchange tracks and New Reo track, switch must be locked in reverse, also the tracks must be entered far enough to clear circuit. If track circuit is not cleared or reverse movement is to be made with other than a signal indication, permission must be obtained from Train Dispatcher Battle Creek in accordance with the Rules. Switches must be lined and locked in normal position when movement is completed.

3.2 Railway crossing at grade.

C&O.... Mileage 223.5.... Controlled.

Contact Train Dispatcher Battle Creek and be governed by Special Instruction 6.1.

3.3 Junction.

Holly Sub.. . . Mileage 253.2.... Controlled.

Contact Train Dispatcher Pontiac Yard, Detroit Division, GTOR Rule 264 applicable for Eastward movements from Flint Sub. to enter Holly Sub.

3.4 Railway crossing at grade.

Grand Rapids Sub.. . . Mileage 253.3 .... Controlled.

Contact Train Dispatcher Pontiac Yard, Detroit Division, GTOR Rules 663 and 104B paragraphs (1) and (2) applicable.

Electric switch lock located at east end of Middle Local Track mileage 253.2, must be lined for route before signal indication to proceed can be obtained on Dwarf Signal. Permission must be received from Train Dispatcher before switch is unlocked.

In the application of GTOR Rules 663 and 670, instructions received from Train Dispatcher must be in writing and repeated before being acted on.

3.5 Railway crossing at grade. C&O .... Mileage 271.8 .... Controlled. Contact Train Dispatcher Battle Greek and be governed by Special Instruction 6.1.

3.6 Railway crossing at grade.

C&O (Old Main Track) .... Mileage 272.5 .... Automatic.,

GTOR Rule 672 applies.

3.7 Railway crossing at grade.

C&O .... Mileage 331.8.... Mechanical.

3.8 Junction.

GTOR Rule 104 B, paragraph 2 applies at Dual Control switches at junction switch from Mt. Clemens Sub. to South Track, crossover switches from South Track to Westward Track and crossover switches from Westward Track to west end, Eastbound Lead Track.

4 EQUIPMENT RESTRICTIONS

4.1 Cars exceeding 315,000 lbs. gross must be covered by handling instructions.

4.2 All 6 axles locomotives prohibited from the following tracks:

Mileage 121.2 - PC interchange tracks.

Mileage 121.1 - Team 4-5-6.

Mileage 120.2 - Olds No. 15.

Mileage 219.5 - West Yard Storage.

Mileage 218.5 - Long Storage.

Mileage 216.0 - Ralston Purina.

6 PUBLIC CROSSING AT GRADE

6.1 TUNNEL YARD - During the hours from sunset to sunrise, movements operating over Griswold Street via the "WYE" leading to the HR Track, will be required to display lighted fusees on both sides of the movement at the crossing.

Upon completion of the movement over this crossing the fusees must be extinguished.

6.2 FORT GRATIOT OLD MAIN TRACK - At all times, movements over Eleventh Avenue and Twelfth Avenue, must be protected by a member of the crew.

Between the hours of 2000 and 0800, engine whistle will not be sounded at crossings between the Port Huron Paper Company and the Dunn Paper Company. The Conductor will, be responsible to see that a member of the crew properly protects the movement while going over these crossings during these hours.

All movements on the Fort Gratiot (old Main), over 32nd Street, must STOP and crossing protected by a member of the crew warning traffic in advance of the movement using lighted fusees between the times of sunset and sunrise and when visibility is reduced by adverse weather conditions.

6.3 LAPEER - Lapeer Co-op track, mileage 0.1 South Spur, trains or engines must stop and crossing protected by a member of the crew over Saginaw Street, warning traffic in advance of movement.

6.4 FLINT -All movements over Vernon Street, mileage 217.9 (Old Main Track) must STOP and must be protected by a member of the crew before passing over this crossing.

All movements over Utley Road mileage 267.0 (Old Main Track) must STOP and crossing protected by a member of the crew, warning traffic in advance of the movement.

Between the hours of 2230 Friday and 0630 Monday, all movements over Stevenson Street, Stevenson Street Yard, must STOP and crossing protected by a member of the crew, warning traffic in advance of the movement. Cars or equipment must not be left standing within 50 feet of Stevenson Street crossing.

6.5 TORREY - Circuit posts indicating start of crossing warning devices are located on north side of Main Track, 1620 feet east of Bristol Road, mileage 265.5. Westward trains picking up at this location must stop a sufficient distance east of these marker posts to accommodate entire train after pick up.

All trains making set off or pick up at North Yard will clear Bristol Road to permit movement of vehicular traffic before reverse movement is made.

6.6 LANSING - PENNSYLVANIA AVENUE - INDUSTRIAL LEAD. All movements over this street must STOP and crossing protected by a member of the crew, warning traffic in advance of the movement.

6.7 Switch Key Control Instructions: Special Instruction 9.2 applies.

7 HOT BOX AND DRAGGING EQUIPMENT DETECTORS

7.1 Mileage 232.0 for Eastward and Westward tracks.

7.2 Mileage 283.0

7.3 Mileage 308.3 Special Instruction 8.1 applies for above locations.

8 OTHER TRACKS

8.1 Mileage 203.0, Owens Glass, 3145 feet in length, switch points face W. Exercise CAUTION when entraining or detraining near east end of retaining wall of "B" Track account poor walking conditions Station Number 833.

8.2 Mileage 214.9, Erickson Plant, 5200 feet in length, switch points face E.&W. Erickson Plant has employed in their confines a remote-controlled locomotive. Grand Trunk movements must be made with CAUTION in this area to avoid conflicting movements. Grand Trunk Engine movements must not be operated over trackage 300 feet North of the Plant Road Crossing located at North end of Plant Yard. Station Number 830.

8.3 Mileage 261.5, Swartz Creek, 6,084 feet in length, switch points face E.&W. Cars or equipment must not be left standing within 300 feet West, or 350 feet East on Swartz Greek Siding at Raubinger Road, Mileage 262.0. Station Number 820.

8.4 Mileage 275.5, TOFC track, 700 feet in length, switch points face E. Movements through this track must not exceed 5 miles per hour. Station Number 819.

8.5 Mileage 279.2, Davison, 300 feet in length, switch points face E.&W. Station Number 813.

8.6 Mileage 305.2, Anderson Peat, 1440 feet in length, switch points face W. Station Number 809.

8.7 Mileage 305.5, Champion Industries, 1100 feet in length, switch points face W. Station Number 809.

8.8 Mileage 306.5, Peat Siding, 4819 feet in length, switch points face E.&W. When switching the spur tracks, sufficient cars must be held onto to avoid engine moving beyond the switch on the lead dividing the east and west spur tracks.

Cars or equipment must not be left where they will block the farm crossings. Station Number 808.

8.9 Mileage 309.3, Capac, 2000 feet in length, switch points face E.&W. Station Number 807.
