FLAT ROCK SUBDIVISION FOOTNOTES

1 RULE MODIFICATIONS

1.1 CLEARANCES

FLATROCK-All southward trains require clearance.

DIANN - Trains entering AA Tracks enroute Toledo do not require clearance.

HAMLER - All southward trains require B&O clearance Form A.

SUGAR ST. - All southward trains require clearance. All northward trains require GT clearance and B&O clearance Form A.

MAITLAND AND SHY - Trains to Cincinnati, via CR do not require CR clearance Form A but must receive permission from CR Train Dispatcher before entering CR Main Track.

Trains from Cincinnati via CR do not require clearance card but must receive permission from GT Train Dispatcher before entering GT Main Track.

SPRINGFIELD - All northward trains require clearance.

1.2 TRAIN REGISTER MODIFICATIONS

FLAT ROCK -*Register Station for trains originating and terminating.

FORD PARK -*Standard Clock and Bulletins only.

SPRINGFIELD -*Register Station for trains originating and terminating.

1.3 GTOR Rules 281, 285 and 292 at the following interlocking signal location, the absence of a signal light in the bottom portion of a double head signal mast will not be considered as an imperfectly displayed signal as outlined in GTOR Rule 27.

Those interlocking signals are not equipped with number plates and the signal red light aspect will indicate GTOR Rule 292. The only time both lights on these double headed signals mast will be lit is to display a restricting indication GTOR Rule 290.

1.4 GTOR Rule 104B is not applicable at dual control switches. A signal maintainer will handle dual control or power switches in CTC.

2 GENERAL FOOTNOTES

2.1 FLAT ROCK to HURON - Within Yard Limits a movement against the current of traffic may be made on verbal permission from Operator Flat Rock who must obtain this authority from the Train Dispatcher.

2.2 Flat Rock-Southward movements on Southward Main Track will be governed by Signal No. 183 located at mileage 18.5.

If signal displays an aspect other than GTOR Rule 281 trains having more than 40 cars must stop not less than 300 feet north of Signal No. 183. Highway crossing protection will time out in 60 seconds.

When the stopped train receives signal aspect GTOR Rule 281 permitting it to proceed, movement will be governed by Special Instruction 9.2.

Trains having 40 cars or less will proceed according to signal aspect. All loaded unit trains must use North No. 1 or North No. 2 Track.

All southward trains departing Flat Rock from South 1, South 2 or South 3 will utilize the new South departure track .

2.3 TEMPERANCE YARD SPUR - Movements to Temperance Yard from Diann will operate over AA Trackage Diann to Hallett. AA Rules and Timetable Instructions govern, and over TT Trackage Hallett to Temperance Yard, TT Special Instructions govern. Movements at Temperance Yard are governed by GTOR Rule 105.

Train orders for movements to Temperance Yard over AA and TT will be received at Diann and Alexis. Train order for movement from Temperance Yard over TT and AA will be received at Temperance Yard and Alexis.

Trains do not require clearance to enter Flat Rock Subdivision. Movement by signal indication. If signal to enter Flat Rock Subdivision is at stop, contact Operator Diann.

Laskey Road, Temperance Yard, is protected by highway flashing light signals at both tracks crossing Laskey Road. Controllers are located near tracks on either side of highway.

All trains and locomotives must stop before fouling crossing and a member of crew will insert switch key in "START" slot on controller and turn to the right. After flashers have been operating for at least 20 seconds, the movement may proceed. Flashers will stop when track circuit is cleared.

Should flashers be started and train does not enter track circuit, insert switch key in "STOP" slot and turn to the right.

All 6 axle locomotives prohibited at Temperance Yard.

2.4 DIANN - All movement over GT connecting Track No. 4 to AA Track No. 3 must not exceed 5 miles per hour.

2.5 RIGA - Permission must be obtained from GT train dispatcher before picking up or setting out cars on the Lenawee County Railroad connection mileage 52.2 '

Conductor must furnish list of cars interchanged to L.C. Railroad along with waybills' List is to include train symbol, locomotive number, conductor's name, time and date interchange is effected. Bills and list for interchange to be left in mail box located on northeast side of Tagold Road. GTOR Rule 105 applies.

2.6 METAMORA - Siding leased to Metamora Elevator Company for loading of unit grain trains. Terms of the lease allow the GT to use the siding when such would not impair loading.

For the protection of main track, derails are located at the north and south ends of the siding to -be placed in derailing position when the siding is occupied with empty or loaded cars. Both derails are to be removed when siding is cleared. The north 100 feet of the Elevator Track, has been leased, cars or equipment must not be placed or left on this leased trackage.

2.7 OTTAWA INDUSTRIAL LOOP - 3.9 miles in length. Entrance at B&O mileage 151.5 North end and at B&O mileage 147.5 South end. Movements on this trackage will be governed by GTOR Rule 105. Maximum speed 20 miles per hour on former Main Track, 10 miles per hour entering and leaving.

All 6 axle locomotives prohibited from Ottawa Beet Plant Track. Station Number Ottawa 112.

Telephone located at Kleman mileage B&O 151.5, Ottawa GT mileage 112.1 and South Ottawa mileage B&O 147.5. GT mileage 114.0.

Movement to and from B&O Main Track by B&O signal indication.

Special Instruction 7.25, cars containing flammable compressed gas, applies on former main track.

2.8 LEIPSIC - A power operated derail has been installed on the main track approximately 127 feet north of the Northward Interlocking Signal at Mileage 106.0, Leipsic. This derail will automatically line when the route has been established.

If for any reason the interlocking becomes inoperative, an emergency control box is located in northwest quadrant of diamond.

If after operating emergency control, route has not been established, permission to flag crossing must be received from N&W train dispatcher. Upon receiving permission, derail must be hand lined in accordance with GTOR Rule 104B. (Dual Control Switches).

Exception to Rule 104B:

Selector lever must be in "Hand" position until entire train or engine has cleared the switch (Derail).

Switch must be restored to motor (Power) after movement is completed. Trains or engines being held by the Northward Interlocking Signal must stop south of Main Street. A key activated reclear switch has been installed on the west side of Main Street bungalow located in the northeast quadrant of crossing. Key is to be used as alternate to the reclear circuit.

When train is ready to move northward through interlocking, turn key to right and hold momentarily and release. If no confliction route has been established, signal will clear.

Train or engine must occupy main track before reclear key switch will be effective.

2.9 FORD PARK - Unless otherwise provided, all southward trains will use main track and all northward trains will use the siding as running tracks. Reverse movements may be made on verbal permission from the Operator at Sugar Street Tower who must obtain this authority from the Train Dispatcher. Southward trains must not leave Ford Park without permission from Operator at Sugar Street Tower who must obtain this authority from Train Dispatcher.

At Ford Park, northward trains will stop in clear on siding and will not foul north switch when setting out or picking up when advance signal is displaying STOP signal GTOR Rule 292. If signal is displaying GTOR Rule 282 or 285, train may, after contacting B&O Dispatcher to ascertain locations of opposing trains, pass advance signal in performance of work. When ready to depart, inform B&O Dispatcher of expected leaving time, then be governed by instructions and signal indication.

2.10 UNIOPOLIS - Siding leased to New Terminal Elevator Company for loading of unit grain trains. Terms of the lease allows the GT to use the siding when such would not impair loading.

For the protection of main track, the north elevator switch is to be left lined and locked for movement to north elevator track and the derail located on the south end of siding to be placed in derailing position when the siding is occupied with empty or loaded cars. North elevator track switch is to be lined for siding and derail removed when siding is cleared.

2.11 MAITLAND - Mileage 193.9 Bechtel Avenue, trains or locomotives, either direction, not making a through movement over the crossing will cause the highway protection device to be automatically interrupted. In the vicinity of the crossing the points beyond which locomotives and cars will operate highway protection device after the protection has been interrupted will be indicated by yellow paint on the ties. After protection has been interrupted, trains or locomotives must stop on track circuit extending between the restart point, designated with yellow paint, and the crossing. Automatic protection must be allowed to operate for 20 seconds before proceeding over crossing.

3 JOINT MAIN TRACK

3.1 XN to DT&I Jct. - Joint with B&O. B&O rules and Timetable govern.

3.2 SUGAR ST. - Between mileage 132.0 and mileage 132.7 joint with CR. GT rules and Timetable govern.

3.3 MAITLAND to CINCINNATI - Joint with CR. CR rules and timetable govern.

6 EQUIPMENT RESTRICTIONS

6.1 Cars exceeding 315,000 lbs. gross must be covered by handling instructions.

6.2 All 6 axle locomotives not permitted to operate on the following tracks at Flat Rock:

Socony Mobil Tracks.

6.3 Hi-cube box cars and all other long cars with 64 feet or over truck centers are restricted on Tracks No. 8 and 8A, Socony Mobil, Flat Rock.

6.4 Special Instruction 7.25, cars containing flammable compressed gas, applies entire Flat Rock Yard and between:

Mileage 17.2 and mileage 19.2 Flat Rock

Mileage 23.0 and mileage 25.0 Carleton

Mileage 28.0 and mileage 32.0 Field

Mileage 96.0 and mileage 98.0 Hamler
